Book Club now meets every Thursday at 6:30, moved from Mondays — maybe the new night works better for some of you who couldn't make it before. If you've been curious, this is a great time to jump in.

We've also made it weekly, so there's always a reason to show up: discussing the current read, voting on the next one, or just hanging out with fellow readers.

Speaking of — our last book is done and voting is open now for what's next.

Come hang out Thursday, July 23rd at 6:30 while we choose our next read.

Cacao, Hapé & Sound Journey 🌌

I need to repeat this to myself today...I wanted to share it in case anyone else needs it also ✨

When I first heard the term 'Spiritual Warrior', it sounded a little pretentious and I don't even know what it meant.

After one of my journeys where I had an understanding that I chose to live this life, I remember thinking everyone that chooses to come here is a warrior. We all are whether we realize it or not

I used to think a warrior implied fighting and conflict. But I don't think fighting in the traditional sense is what qualifies here. I think it has more to do with facing what needs to be faced without shying away. Or at least that's one perspective.

There are 2 related perspectives on this idea that I think I understand these days. I'm guessing there are more that I've yet to comprehend.

One perspective is having the acceptance and courage to feel everything life and the experience of it offers. To feel the amazing joy of love and beauty. To feel the pain of loss, betrayal, hatred, isolation and more. Without the contrast, love and beauty fail to have real meaning. The pain is necessary to understand.

The other perspective is having the acceptance and courage to face yourself and your shadows. To sit with them and take a long detailed look at them. To stare at them in the face without flinching. To understand them and take on all the pain and ugliness they have to offer until they start to dissolve. It can be downright brutal. In my last journey I experienced eternal isolation and understood the depth of my own selfishness. I left the journey feeling like consciousness was a prison with no good options. It felt like existence was meaningless. It felt like a terrible truth that I didn't actually want to know. I didn't know how I was supposed go on like everything was ok. I didn't want to hurt myself or anything. But I didn't know how motivate myself to do anything if it was all meaningless anyways.

I came to understand that my experience in that journey was my choice. I didn't realize what I was choosing in the moment. But after reflecting, I started to see it. I was so embarrassed of myself I wanted to be alone. And I got exactly that and it was terrible.

The lessons can be hard and require a warrior mentality I think. Not to fight. But to have the strength to be vulnerable and honest and surrender to the truth. To accept where you've been and where you're at. So you can see clearly how to choose where you're going next.

Om Shanti my friends.

As I am nearing 6 months sober from alcohol and America nears its 250th. I just had the thought “ive been sober for 1/500th of American existence”. lol I gained nothing from this perspective besides America is young bc it doesn’t feel like long ago and 500 isn’t that much. I

Hey Jay/Chris I remember hearing at one of the church services that yall used to do longer retreats. I was wondering if there's ever talk of doing a 3, 4 or 5 ceremony retreat?? I would very much be interested in diving deeper and was wondering if anyone else felt the same. Aho.🙏🌞

June was a special one. We held our summer solstice ceremony with an incredible group — powerful doesn't quite cover it. We were honored to sit with every one of you. That Sunday we did our solstice despacho together, and it landed just right. Beautiful Sunday services all month, good potlucks, and the kind of shares that remind you why this community exists. We kept it to one ceremony in June for the solstice, but we're back in our normal rhythm for July.

Welcome to everyone who joined us in June — Pat Harrison Victor Alexander Delgado Robin Shew Kelly Whaley Joel Hill JESSICA BAGGETTA Simarpreet Arora Jeremy Mundy Britny Carrino Adam Russell Ana Goodman Sarah Serfling @keniameza @jdub12 @docgladden @rags @nellysr @anakari23 @mikejack89 Misti Hill JC @karalutz @zoie_godfrey @charknepper @jbrzozowski @jpaulclark @chlo90 — so glad you found us. 🙏

And a real thank you to everyone who keeps showing up on Sundays and doing the work. It doesn't go unnoticed.

July's a full month. We're back to two ceremonies — a two-night with James & Christina (that one's full, but the waitlist is open) and a one-night for those who've already sat with us and want to reconnect. First-timers, we'll always start you with a full weekend. Beyond that it's the usual good stuff: Sunday services every week, Sapo/Kambo, a potluck to close out the month, a Cacao, Hapé & Sound Journey, and Book Club on Zoom Monday nights.

Calendar's attached with all the dates and details — you can also find everything, including Zoom links and deposits, here: https://community.twobirdschurch.com/calendar/
