Although Sapo is completely safe when responsibly administered by a trained practitioner, there are several contraindications where it cannot be safely administered.
Contraindications for Sapo and Kambo
- Heart Conditions:
Individuals with serious heart problems, including those who have had heart surgery, should avoid Sapo and Kambo. The intense effects on heart rate and blood pressure can be dangerous - Stroke and Brain Conditions:
People who have had a stroke, brain hemorrhage, aneurysms, or blood clots are at significant risk due to potential increases in intracranial pressure and blood flow changes. - Low Blood Pressure Medication:
Those taking medication for low blood pressure should not participate, as both Sapo and Kambo can cause significant drops in blood pressure. - Mental Capacity and Severe Mental Health Issues:
Individuals who lack the mental capacity to make informed decisions or who have severe mental health conditions (excluding depression, PTSD, and anxiety) should avoid these treatments. - Chemotherapy or Radiation Therapy:
Those currently undergoing or within six weeks of completing chemotherapy or radiation therapy should refrain from Sapo and Kambo due to their immune system impacts. - Immunosuppressants and Addison’s Disease:
Individuals taking immunosuppressants for organ transplants or those with Addison’s disease should avoid these treatments due to potential adverse interactions. - Severe Epilepsy:
The risk of inducing seizures is high for individuals with severe epilepsy. - Pregnancy and Breastfeeding:
Pregnant women, those suspecting pregnancy, and breastfeeding mothers of babies under six months old should avoid Sapo and Kambo due to potential risks to the child. - Post-Major Surgery:
People recovering from major surgery should allow adequate time for healing before considering these treatments to prevent complications. - Recent Use of Bufo Alvarius:
Those who have used Bufo Alvarius (toad medicine) within the last 6-8 weeks should wait before undergoing Sapo or Kambo to avoid unpredictable reactions. - Stimulants:
People taking caffeine, slimming supplements, Adderall, dieting pills, or any other stimulants should disclose this information. These substances can affect the treatment process and cause excess stress on the heart. - Supplements:
Individuals taking serotonin supplements or sleeping aids, including natural sleep supplements like melatonin, should consult their healthcare provider. These supplements can interact with the treatment, potentially causing complications such as increased blood pressure and exacerbating sleep disorders. - Use of Supplements and Medications:
People taking slimming, serotonin, sleeping supplements, or medications for autoimmune disorders should consult their healthcare provider. - Active Addictions:
Individuals with active drug or alcohol addictions need to disclose this, as it may affect the treatment process. - Fasting and Detox Protocols:
Avoid fasting, enemas, colonics, liver flushes, or any water-based detox 3 days before and after the treatment. - Other Health Conditions:
Any chronic or serious health issues, including asthma, diabetes, high or low blood pressure, liver or kidney problems, should be discussed with the practitioner. - Menstruation:
It’s helpful to note that if you’re menstruating at the time of your treatment, Sapo will most likely cause your flow to increase for 24 to 36 hours due to its vasodilation properties.
Safety First: Always disclose your full medical history and any current medications to the facilitators before participating in a Sapo or Kambo ceremony. If you have any doubts or concerns about your health, consult with a healthcare professional before the ceremony.
By understanding and respecting these contraindications, you can ensure a safe and positive experience for everyone involved. Always prioritize safety and well-being in your spiritual and healing practices.
