OOur ceremonies are conducted with reverence and vigilance. Security means tending to the container—the people, the setting, and the practices that keep everyone safe.
Facilitation Standards
- Leaders — All ceremonies are facilitated by James Elrod and Christina Titus.
- Presence — Facilitators also take the sacrament, yet maintain calm, disciplined, attentive presence throughout. They remain engaged, performing regular visual checks on every participant.
- Silence & respect — Ceremonies are held in darkness. No talking is permitted except by facilitators; natural sounds of release, music, and instruments hold the space.
Physical Safeguards
- Phones, keys, watches, and light-emitting devices are collected before ceremony and returned the next morning.
- Space set-up — hazards are removed; each participant has a mat, blanket, pillow, bucket, and tissues.
- Staying contained — participants must remain in the ceremonial room. The only exception is bathroom use, and a facilitator escorts them to and from.
- Safe resting — participants are encouraged to recline or lie down; facilitators monitor positioning throughout the night.
Dosing & Administration
- Stepwise dosing — sacrament is poured in multiple cups: an initial light first dose, with optional second and third cups only if the participant has shown capacity to sit with each prior cup.
- Individual pacing — participants may request a half or quarter cup. Facilitators reserve the right not to offer more, ensuring safety.
- No outside sacrament — only medicine prepared and safeguarded by Two Birds may be consumed.
Continuous Containment
- Stay on the mat — each mat is a personal sanctuary.
- Bathroom escort only — no unsupervised departures from the container.
- No one left alone — participants are never abandoned in the ceremonial space unless facilitators confirm they are stable.
Closing & Departure
Facilitators honor all safety requests and may call EMS if required.
The container remains closed until ceremony ends.
Each participant is individually cleared for steadiness before leaving.
