TThe integrity of leadership and participation is foundational to the safety and sanctity of our religious practice. At Two Birds Church, accountability is built into both our board-led structure and the way members engage with ceremony.
Leadership Standards
Eligibility & Disqualifiers
- Individuals with convictions for drug trafficking/manufacturing, violence, theft/fraud, or other crimes of moral turpitude are ineligible to handle, prepare, or administer the sacrament, or to serve in facilitation roles.
- Any facilitator or board member who is arrested or convicted of such an offense is immediately disqualified.
- Team members must promptly disclose any legal issues to the Board.
Background Checks
- Because our facilitation team is small and made up of founding board members, we do not conduct repeated annual checks.
- The Board retains authority to act if issues arise.
- If the team expands in the future, new facilitators must pass a background check before serving and may be subject to periodic re-checks.
Ethical Commitments
- Sobriety & honesty — leaders are sober, truthful stewards of the space.
- Consent & privacy — participant confidentiality is respected; health and personal information are protected.
- Role clarity — facilitators do not claim to “heal.” Their role is to hold a disciplined, safe, and sacred container where members do their own spiritual work.
Participant Standards
Participation is a privilege that depends on respecting the safety and sanctity of ceremony. Members agree to:
- Complete medical screening honestly — including health conditions, medications, and mental health history.
- Follow preparation guidelines — dieta, sobriety, and pre-ceremony requirements outlined in this course.
- Respect the container — remaining on the mat, honoring silence (aside from natural release), and only leaving the space when accompanied by a facilitator.
- Accept facilitator guidance — including decisions about dosing, pacing, or being asked to pause from further ceremonies until integration is demonstrated.
Failure to follow these standards may result in being denied participation in a given ceremony or being required to engage in other community practices (e.g., Sunday Services) before returning to ceremony.
